Following the Food in a County of Plenty
Multimedia, Who's Hungry — By Alaena Hostetter on February 10, 2009 at 3:52 pmIt’s hard getting food to hundreds of thousands of people. In Santa Barbara, the challenge is no less tolling. The Santa Barbara County Food Bank is the main organization in the county that receives food from the government, farms and grocery stores, and then distributes it to non-profit organizations like the Salvation Army, which in turn, give that food to hungry people. But there are always kinks in the system. This is one story of the frustrations of distributing food, especially when demands have increased so greatly in this economy.
